SINCE 1908

IT BEGAN ON A CHARMING NARROW COBBLESTONE STREET…

Located in the heart of Milan, Italy at the end of the 19th century. Founder Luigi Locati opened a small hand craft shop in the artisan quarter, specializing in leather decorations for covers of sacred books. After great success, his entrepreneurial spirit and desire to explore new techniques of craftsmanship lead him to begin producing precious petit point pochettes for the Milanese socialites during the Hapsburg period.

THE COMPANY’S NAME LEU LOCATI

Is a tribute to the initial founders, Luigi and his two nephews Emanuele and Umberto, whom later joined him after he officially opened the company “Anonima Fratelli Locati” in 1908. Emanuele proved to be talented with the organisation in the factory while Umberto was a dreamer, who traveled for inspiration and examined trends in other countries to adapt for his customers needs. Today, the products are produced with the same passion, traditional craftsmanship and a high level of innovation that gives every piece a unique, timeless aesthetic.

OVER THE PAST ONE-HUNDRED YEARS…

The products have been adored by royalties and celebrities alike, as seen alongside them during important events throughout history. Queen Elizabeth II has carried the infamous “mesh” style during key events including the Parliament in 1982. Grace Kelly also was accompanied by a Locati Petit Point while she accepted her Oscar.

TODAY, THE FIFTH GENERATION

Of the Locati legacy is actively involved at every stage in the company with president Paolo Amato actively leading the company for over 25 years. The knowledge and expertise of the craft has been passed down from generation to generation, ensuring that the same top quality and attention to detail continues to be consistent.
